Osayende, at a press conference in Benin, Edo State on Wednesday described the newly-approved dress code for female police officers in the country as illegal and unconstitutional.

He said, “Though, the 1999 Constitution was imposed on Nigerians, the same does not give the IG the constitutional rights to say that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the use of hijab, which is a Muslim mode of dressing for the Nigerian Police. The police should not have ethnic and religious colouration.

Osinbajo, Governors, Obasa, Gani Adams, Others Eulogise Adeboye At 80

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) and his wife, Dolapo, governors, Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams and Christians yesterday poured encomiums on the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, as he celebrated his 80th birthday.

Osinbajo’s message was conveyed in a tribute he personally authored on behalf of his wife in Abuja.

“Very few leaders will ever have the geographical and spiritual reach of influence that Pastor Adeboye has.

“He is neither the Pope nor the leader of the free world, but he heads a denomination that, since his assumption of office as its General Overseer, has established churches in over 198 countries and territories of the world.

“He was, as early as 2008, listed by Newsweek as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“Earlier in 1998, the Holy Ghost Congress of the RCCG in Lekki, Lagos, was reported to be one of the largest Christian gatherings ever, and every year, the RCCG Conventions and Congresses have live crowds breaking that record. Through the years, miracles of every kind have been commonplace in his ministry,” he said.

Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), and Yahaya Bello (Kogi) praised the cleric for using the gospel to impact the lives of millions of people across the world.

Sanwo-Olu said: “Sir, you have been a blessing, not just to the RCCG, but also to us in Lagos State. Your unceasing prayers for us and your wise counsel over the years have contributed in no small measure to the phenomenal progress our state has continued to witness. We will forever be grateful. We cannot also ever forget your commitment to the Lagos State Annual Thanksgiving Service since the Year 2000.”

In his message, Abiodun said: “Clearly, you are a living testimony of the awesomeness of God and our dear nation and State have benefitted immensely from your wealth of experience and selfless services in both your spiritual and secular lives and living.”

Akeredolu, in a statement in Akure, the state capital, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Richard Olatunde, said: “You have continued to influence many lives positively, projecting the Christian values with dedication for the development of the country at large.

“Your ministry has attracted many souls to God, decimating the kingdom of darkness amid the cloud of a dwindling value.”

Bello, in a statement in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Mohammed, said: “I am always wowed by the simplicity and sense of humility of this man of influence, his good works are testimonies of his divine calling, impacting greatly on humanity, education, health and infrastructural development.

“It is no doubt that Pastor Adeboye is a blessing to Nigeria and the entire globe.”

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa said: “Many people will hardly believe that you are already 80 because your physical strength still remains intact. I have never seen you read the Bible or any other material with difficulty. Indeed, your gait confirms your strength.

“This has proved the word of God that He will bless those He will bless.”

Gani Adams wrote: “Your years of service to the Lord and the attendant grace remain an inspiration to others that look up to you as a role model.

“Reaching four scores in life is a testimony of God’s grace and abundant blessings. It can only be God.”

Keke, Okada ban will worsen crime rate in Enugu -Mbaka

The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has condemned the decision of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to ban the operations of motorcycles popularly known as Okada, tricycle, and tipper-truck in three local government areas of the state.Mbaka

The Catholic priest claimed the governor took the decision without thinking of the consequences of the ban and its effect on the poor.

Ugwuanyi had on Thursday after an emergency security meeting signed Executive Order No.1: 2022, banning operations of tricycle (Keke), motorcycle (Okada), and tipper-truck in entire Nkanu East, Nkanu West, and some communities in Enugu South Local Government Area.

But Mbaka in a video message, which our correspondent obtained on Sunday, advised the governor to rescind the ban, warning of the dire consequences that might steam from the ban.

Mbaka said, “I have been asking and pleading that they should release Nnamdi Kanu. It appeared as if once Nnamdi Kanu is arrested banditry, crisis, killings will end, instead, after he had been arrested things worsened. Situations are worsening every day which now proves that holding him has not provided any solution.

“Anybody who makes a law that should not be made should be ready to face the consequences. The poor masses should not continue to suffer and suffer and suffer. And I am pleading with the leaders of Enugu State, There is no job.

“If some people don’t go out with their Keke, their parents, wives, and children will not eat. Their sick mothers will not take any medicine. If you catch any Keke person that commits any crime, punish the person. You cannot generalise the sin of one to everybody. No.”

Bishop Oyedepo: Don’t Name Anything After Me In Winners Chapel When I Die

Founder and presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, a.k.a Winners’ Chapel International, David Oyedepo has banned followers not to name the church after him.

He said the church belongs to Jesus, not him.

“After I go at a very ripe old age which I know God has the plan for me, let no man here name anything here after me because the owner never dies”, Oyedepo said in a sermon published today by Church Gist.

The renowned cleric said this Sunday while preaching that breakaway churches don’t thrive.

According to Oyedepo, he is not a church giver and warned against immortalising him in the church.

“Don’t try it, it’s not God’s will it’s not God’s plan.

“People die before they share their will in any term but this man never dies. So who will now give you the will to read?

“Lawyers, do you read the will when the man is still alive.

“You can’t divide anybody goods till after his death and and Jesus the owner of the church ever liveth. So where will you divide his lit, that time won’t come”.

Oyedepo said he once received a request from a resigning pastor to gift him a church branch.

He said he declined the request.

According to him he would have lost the Winners Chapel ministry forever if he obliged to the pastors request because the church doesn’t belong to him.

“One of our pastors resigned in those days and I said if there’s anything in getting started in your ministry, he said I want you to give me the church that I’m pastor. I said it’s not my own.

“You have no power to give what is not yours. I can’t give you the church it’s not my own.

“I told him to ask for any other thing, I’m not a church giver. I would have lost this ministry forever,” he said.

43-Year-Old Nigerian Arrested With Knife As Pope Francis Celebrates Outdoor Mass

Two security sources said the knife was found during security screening for thousands seeking access to the stadium.

middle-aged Nigerian man has been arrested by the police in Cyprus for carrying a knife during security screening to an outdoor stadium where Pope Francis was celebrating mass on Friday.

According to a report by Nigeriabroad, two security sources said the knife was found during security screening for thousands seeking access to the stadium.

This was even as authorities took strict security precautions and most attendees had to be at the venue hours earlier.

However, authorities said it appeared the knife-carrying incident was unrelated to the presence of the pope on the island.

“After an investigation, it appears that the two are unrelated, there was no intention to do something,” one source said, while a second said the knife was thought to be for personal use.

Earlier, a police official said the man concerned was a 43-year-old Nigerian national.

Pope Francis, on a three-day visit to Cyprus, called during Friday’s mass for healing on the divided island.

Massive Turn out as The Synagogue, T.B Joshua Church Resumes Services

The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), founded by late Prophet T.B Joshua, welcomed back its members for physical services on Sunday after 21 months of closure.

Worshippers trooped in for services at the headquarters of the church located at the Ikotun Egbe, Lagos.

Airviews News correspondent who attended the service observed that despite the crowd, the church adhered to the COVID-19 protocols.

Regular Sunday services were put on hold in March 2020, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, long before the sudden demise of the founder and General Overseer of the ministry, late Prophet T.B Joshua on June 5, 2021.

Till his passing on June 5, the church remained under lock.

The late cleric had insisted that the church would only be re-opened when there were divine instructions to that effect.

Today will be the first physical service globally under the church’s new leadership of Prophetess Evelyn TB Joshua who had also maintained the position of her late husband on the reopening of activities in the church.

2023: Kukah Warns Nigerians Against Repeat Of 2015 “Mistake”

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has warned Nigerians to be wary of deceptive politicians who might present themselves as impeccable candidates of the various political parties in the 2023 general elections. Kukah gave the warning while delivering a lecture on: ‘National Cohesion for Growth and Progress – The Nigerian Dilemma at the Inaugural Lecture and Gold Prize’ organised by This Nigeria Media Limited in Abuja.

The cleric, who was one of the prime movers of the National Peace Committee (NPC), an eminent persons group that supported the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, lamented that the administration had grossly failed to deliver on its promises to the people. Apparently admitting that he and others made a mistake, Kukah said that 2023 presents another opportunity for Nigerians to choose credible leaders at all levels and enjoined them to look well before they leap to avoid another disastrous outcome.

“We can’t deceive ourselves by pretending that all is well and nothing is wrong, let’s keep carrying on. No. Something is substantially very wrong and the responsibility of fixing this country falls on us all. “With the knowledge I have now, if I pay for transport, I must know where the bus is going. So we have a chance and the best thing is for all of us to open our eyes.

“We are going to have another election and I am saying that we must look for people that have shown us evidence that they understand where we are hurting,” he said. Kukah had at the event stirred the hornet’s nest and sparked altercations with veteran labour unionist, Comrade Isa Aremu and legal luminary, Chief Mike Ozekhome over the state of the nation and the seeming lack of cohesion among the diverse ethnic and multi-cultural groups in the country.

In the said lecture, Kukah said that there has been a negative trend of rising insecurity, poverty and despondency across Nigeria. He said the government of the day had continued to pay deaf ears to the genuine complaints of the citizens and appears to have capitalised on the ethnic and religious diversities to subdue certain groups within the country.

The cleric referred to his last year’s Christmas Day homily in which he chronicled the woes of Nigerians under the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, but insisted that nothing has changed since then. The trio, who were later made panelists at the lecture, gave different perspectives on the state of insecurity, poor economy and lack of good governance in Nigeria. While the fiery and vocal cleric blamed the situation on the inability of the current administration to do justice to all citizens and groups without fear or favour, Ozekhome drew a nexus between the present day challenges and the constitutional foundations of the country. According to the lawyer, Nigeria is sick, in a coma and requires oxygen to survive from her current ailment. Ozekhome postulated that the clamour by some Nigerians to do away with the military imposed 1999 Constitution and replacing it with a people’s constitution must be achieved before there can be equity, justice and national cohesion in Nigeria.

But Aremu sharply disagreed with both positions, accusing the duo of promoting divisive narratives rather than highlighting the bright sides and achievements of the present administration. Aremu accused Kukah of being part of those who brought Buhari to power and advised him to look at the bright side of things. He said that rather than agonising, Kukah and his likes should be organising to make things better in the country. When Kukah was given the right of reply to the attempt by Aremu to discredit him, he said it was erroneous to accuse him of making divisive utterances whenever he spoke the truth about happenings in the country. He acknowledged that he was part of those who promoted the idea of a Buhari Presidency but said his contribution was based on a genuine conviction that it would bring about positive change as promised.

Veteran broadcaster and moderator of the discourse, Prof Tony Iredia, urged the media to be prepared to perform the constitutional duties without fear of intimidation from the ruling class. The event featured the presentation of awards to three eminent Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in public service. They include Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu and Prof Ishiaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

CAN Tasks Buhari On Killing Of Christians In Zamfara By Terrorists

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to end the killing of Christians by terrorists in Zamfara State before they resort to self-defence.

It also urged the security agencies to defend Churches in the state to prevent terrorists from carrying out their threats against Christians.

General Secretary of CAN, Joseph Bade Daramola, made the plea while reacting to threat letter sent to Christians in the state asking them to stop worship and to close down churches or risk attacks.

In a statement issued, yesterday, Daramola said “Now that a Federal High Court has declared the bandits as terrorists, we ask the police, the military and other security agencies to tackle the terrorists, who have turned kidnapping into a big business in the North East”,

He lamented that with the way and manner in which the security agencies have been treating insurgency lately, there was no hope of winning the war against terrorism in the country.
“Criminals are criminals irrespective of their religious, political and ethnic affiliations and they should be treated as such.

We also urge the Department of State Security (DSS) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate those speaking for the terrorists with a view to unmasking their sponsors and
beneficiaries of their criminality.

“In a recent visit to Sokoto and Kebbi states, the leadership of CAN was alarmed at the record of criminals, who are killing and kidnapping Christians in the zone, as if there was a pact between them and security agencies.

“Now that the leaderships of Christianity and Islam are working together on how to stop their criminality in the North West, they are now trying to introduce divisive ways by declaring war against Christians and churches in the zone especially in Zamfara State where they are gradually turning into their stronghold,” the statement reads.

BESIDES, the Atiku Kawai Media Group has urged President Buhari to end insecurity in the country and unite Nigerians before leaving office in 2023. The group said the President should stop showboating and address insecurity, which it said, was seriously disrupting the country’s economy.

It disclosed that it would convene town hall meetings in the six geo-political zones of the country with the theme: Making A Case for National Unity And Prosperity. Chairman, Organising Committee of the Atiku Abubakar National Town Hall meeting, Dare Akinniyi, in a statement, yesterday, said the move was to find a lasting solution to the several challenges
facing the country.

Akinniyi noted that the state of the country required urgent collective efforts to stop the growing negative vices affecting the welfare of Nigerians, adding that the Federal Government was overwhelmed with incompetence and cluelessness on how to effectively perform its statutory roles.

ALSO, a coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) has called on the Katsina State Government to restore mobile network services in frontline councils. It lamented that the time it had taken to restore network in the state was making the war against banditry and other crimes to lose steam.

In a statement issued by Acting Chairman, Umar Imam and Secretary General, Rabiu Maska, the group said bandits had devised other ways of communication amongst themselves, situation, which had enabled them continue their onslaught on hapless communities.

CPM General Overseer, Rev Obiora Ezekiel Is Dead.

The General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM), Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel, has passed on, Airviews News reported.

The popular cleric’s death was announced in a statement by CPM Coordinator, Rev. John Ezeh, on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

According to Ezeh, before his demise a few days ago, Rev Ezekiel, who is survived by his wife and children, had urged his members to keep the vision alive and the fire burning.

The statement reads:

”Ladies and gentlemen, I am saddled with a responsibility to all sons, daughters, friends, and lovers of Christian Pentecostal Mission International (CPM) to make an official announcement by the authority vested on me by the National/International Coordinator of CPM International, that our father, mentor, our General, our Field marshal, the man that saw the vision, the man that began the race, the man on whose shoulder we’re all climbing, the Founder and General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev. Dr. O. Ezekiel has gone to be with the Lord just a few days ago.

”Before his departure, he had been telling us to keep the vision alive, and the fire burning: that the mantle is with us; the glory is with us while he goes to wait for us to come over when the time is ripe.

”This was a man whose doggedness in the gospel gave him a title, “Demon Destroyer”; the man who is best known as a teacher of divine nature. He has left his mantle with us to continue where he stopped to move CPM to the next level.

”He came, he saw, he conquered, and triumphantly he left Transform Triumphantly, our General, till we meet at Jesus’ feet,” he added
