NIGERIANS BEING RULED BY WICKED PEOPLE – Oyedepo

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has described the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, as the worst in the history of Nigeria.

Oyedepo said this on Sunday while delivering a sermon during the second service of the church at the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Ogun State.

He said the hate speech bill being sponsored by Senator Sabi Abdullahi was the most ridiculous bill anyone could think of.

The cleric said while the government was seeking to criminalise hate speech, those who kill others at will were left to walk free.

Oyedepo said, “The government in this country is making a draconian law – hate speech. They said if you speak hatefully, you have committed murder. Out of someone who says I will kill you and the one who kills, who has committed a crime? I don’t understand which kind of animal farm we live in.

“I said stop stepping on my toes and you said that is hate speech but somebody kills and he is walking free on the streets. This is the most stupid and nonsensical ideal anybody can think of.

I said you are bad and you said that is a crime. Must I say you are good when you are bad?

“In my view you are bad and you shouldn’t be a leader. I have the right to say so. As far as I am concerned, I am a true born and thoroughly-bred Nigerian, an intelligent one. In my view this is the worst thing that has happened to Nigeria — this government. It is the worst and in fact it is like a curse.

“I have been here for some time and I led the first prayer and fasting for Nigeria in 1979. I am not a baby in the affairs of Nigeria. This is the worst government, a government with no direction. Their days are numbered. I can tell you as a prophet that their days are numbered.”

KILLINGS COULD LEAD TO ANARCHY – CAN

CHRISTIAN Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Wednesday held a church service and a peaceful march to mark the second year of Miss Leah Sharibu in Boko Haram captivity.

In Abuja, CAN President Rev. Samson Ayokunle and the Senior Pastor, Dunamis International Gospel Center, Dr. Paul Enenche, warned that killings in the country could lead to anarchy

Recall that Leah along with over 100 girls were forcibly abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from their hostel at the Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State February 19,2018. Though her mates were later released, she was held back for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. There were reports late January that she had given birth to a boy.

Yobe Christians, came out in large numbers, prayed to God for the release of the young girl and later staged a peaceful protest from the EWCA Church to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Damaturu.

They carried placards with different inscriptions condemning the deteriorating security in the country and calling on President Buhari to ensure the protection of lives and property.

The protesting Christians sent a message of hope to Leah and others in captivity, including Muslims and remembered Mr. Bitrus Zakka from Adamawa State, who was recently murdered by Boko Haram.

The state CAN Chairman Rev. Fr. Philibus Yakubu, said the Christian community in the state is still hopeful for the release of Leah .

“They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you. Yahweh declares to rescue you,” he quoted Jeremiah 1:19.

At a news conference in Abuja to mark the second year of Leah’s abduction, Rev. Ayokunle and Enenche said since the Federal Government was not unaware of the killings in the country, it must take urgent steps to defeat Boko Haram.

They said it is humiliating for a government that has an Army, Air force and Navy to allow the level killings going on its territory

“The development is a shame and there is a cloud of confusion that hangs over the nation and the people that are governing this nation are not doing the right thing,” they lamented.

Rev. Ayokunle, who was represented by CAN Vice-President, Caleb Ahima, said: “CAN has been calling and talking to the government and I think it(government) is obvious of the persistence of this evil.

“We are sure of one thing. We cannot doubt that the government knows what is happening. Looking at the fact that we are a nation, we have the Airforce, the Navy, we have the soliders, we have the weapons, but what is happening in this nation?

“We call on the Federal Government again that we are getting to a point of anarchy. It is the constitutional responsibility of government to protect the lives and property of its citizens. But, where this looks to have been ignored. We have every reason to be suspicious and to speak passionately to government again that Christians in this nation are Nigerians and must not be killed.

“We want the world to know the evil that is happening in the country under the watch of this government. More blood is been shed. The killing is religious. Boko Haram sect wants to establish an Islamic state. We must stop this killings.”.

Pastor Enenche, who was the convener of the event, expressed displeasure over the way and manner government is handling Boko Haram. He called on those sponsoring evil to desist or face God’s punishment.

His words: “I think that this day is one of the saddest in the history of our nation. There has been a high level of willful ignorance on the part of the entire nation. It looks like some people are telling some fake stories.

“What kind of situation have we found ourselves? And who in this nation will be sincere enough to say that everything is right? If this is not a state of emergency of a very calamitous dimension, what are we experiencing? To what extent should it go before people are convinced? A nation is literally being wiped out from the North

“Let the awareness be clear that all is not well in the land. We have a lot of people in the country today, but it is as if their lips have been sealed. People are watching evil going on and nobody is saying anything.

“It is time for everybody to say no to this evil. Enough of evil and bloodshed. Enough of the rule of terror. Everybody, who is sponsoring, collaborating or supporting the terrorists and bloodshed, let it be known to you that your days are numbered.”

CAN called on the Federal Government to react to a video footage indicating that the Turkish government is one of the funders of insurgency in the country.

“We are disturbed by the failure of the Federal Government to react to the footage going round that the Turkish government is allegedly funding the terrorists,” CAN said in the statement by its Director, Legal and Public Affairs , Evangelist Kwamkur Vondip.

It warned the government against rehabilitating repentant insurgents, saying the action was suspicious.

The religious body again urged President Buhari to walk his talk on the release of Leah and all others in Boko Haram captivity.

It said: “The President made this same promise as part of his campaign promises before the 2015 presidential election. When will he do it as he has promised repeatedly?

“Recently, President Buhari was widely reported in the media reiterating his resolve and promise to secure the release of all persons abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists, especially Miss Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls.

“It is two years now since the young Christian girl and unarguably, the face of the Church in the country, Miss Sharibu, was captured by Boko Haram along with her colleagues but she is the only one still languishing in the den of her captors as a captive of faith simply because, against the pressure from the terrorists, she would not convert to Islam.

“It is disheartening and painful that the government that freed her colleagues has not deemed it fit to secure her freedom, despite the fact that those in government have children or grandchildren of her age coupled with the fact that her father is a serving Police officer.

“The same fate is the sad narrative of the Chibok girls’ mass abduction since 2014 after initial freedom of a few of them. We commended the government then for securing the freedom of some but since then, the rest have remained in captivity.”

CAN added that it was deeply saddened by the puzzle of kidnapping, ransom payment and the non-release of Leah, her reported present condition as well as other victims.

It said: “The unsuccessful efforts to free the prisoner of faith by the Federal Government is highly disturbing, disappointing, depressing and unacceptable.

“More so that some abductees and persons kidnapped by the terrorists have had their ransoms paid and freed through the efforts of the Federal Government, relevant security agencies and some international non-governmental organisations.

“The recent sad narrative about Miss Sharibu’s maternal condition is worrisome.”

The apex religious body in Nigeria also expressed concern over the de-radicalization, and empowerment of repentant insurgents by the Federal Government, saying it fears they may return to Sambisa Forest to resume their activities.

It said: “The setting free of so-called ex-Boko Haram terrorists under de-radicalization, rehabilitation, empowerment of the arrested terrorists by the Federal Government is rather troubling and suspicious.

“ What is the guarantee that the freed ex-terrorists would not return to Sambisa Forest and pick up their arms against innocent Nigerians? Media reports have it that a kingpin of the terrorists who was released has found his way back to the bush.”

2019 presidential Election: CAN Declare Non-partisan

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) will not endorse any presidential candidate in the forthcoming election, president of the group, Rev. Samson Ayokunle said.

Ayokunle urged Nigerians to vote according to the leading of the Holy Spirit and their consciences, adding that credibility and integrity should guide their choice. The Presidential election, along with National Assembly election will hold on 16 February. CAN made its position known in a statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Special Assistant, Media and Communications to the CAN president.

Ayokunle said CAN is for God and His people and is apolitical, non-partisan and impartial. “Our members cut across all political divides and some of them are even contesting for one post or the other including the Presidential. So, the idea of endorsing any candidate as favourite does not arise. We have not and will not endorse any candidate for any elective office in the country,” he said.

CAN recently held a meeting with 14 Presidential Candidates in Abuja for briefings on their plans for the nation. Ayokunle said at the end of the meeting, the association came out with a position not to endorse any of the candidates. The CAN president said the association recognises Nigeria’s multi-religious and multicultural composition and it is not in denial of these realities.

“However, in our federal system, it is crucial for all constituents to commit to respect the fundamental human rights of other groups as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended. It is against this background that CAN raise serious concerns with the candidates over the sustained violent attacks and persecution of the Church in Nigeria today.

CAN understands that if the principle of good governance (transparency, accountability, equity, inclusiveness and consensus building) are the hallmarks of governance, it would lead to accelerated development and prosperity for the people of Nigeria. This is our sincere desire, hope and prayer,” he said.

He said that the expectation of CAN was that whoever emerges as president and vice-president would address the myriad of critical national concerns and challenges. “In biblical times, God raised Prophets at different times to speak up against national leaders and policies that promoted injustice against the very people such leaders were called to serve. God placed the responsibility of the security and welfare of the citizens on leaders of nations. Nigeria cannot be an exception,” he said.

The cleric said the association noted with encouragement that the candidates interviewed subscribed to its (CAN’s) values as expected of the President of the Federal Republic. He added that actions should speak far louder than words if anyone of them is elected.

“To this end, CAN will watch closely as the character of the presidential candidates unfolds before, during and after the forthcoming elections,” he said. Ayokunle said that the Christian community is deeply concerned about the misfortunes that had befallen the Nigerian state in recent years. These concerns, which must never be swept under the carpet, make the strongest case for setting a standard for how responsible and well-meaning Nigerians should vote in the coming elections,” he stressed.

The CAN president urged all Christians to ensure they were in possession of their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), and use sound judgment in voting. Ayokunle said that they should ensure that sentiments were eschewed and wisdom was applied in making the decision on the ballot paper.

“Let us be circumspect and discretional. Above all, let the Holy Spirit of God direct you in the voting. Think about the greater good of Nigeria, and not primordial sentiments. All Christians are enjoined to remain vigilant during the voting exercise and promptly report any suspicious undertaking at voting centres,” he advised.

He urged all Christians to stay away from any violence or mob action, whatsoever, no matter the provocation. “Decency, lawfulness and godliness should guide us in any act of disagreement”, he said. The cleric said the choice of CAN remains any candidate who exhibits godliness, trustworthiness, sincerity of purpose, decency, patriotism, true commitment to national service and who would show care for the Christian community in the nation.

“Christians are called upon to vote credible and trusted candidates into the various elective positions. We must also be discerning about their policy and the understanding of policy details,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye Gives Powerful Marching Order That Must Be Obeyed, by RCCG Members,

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has given a serious warning to members of the church to restrain themselves from buying any item that displays his picture, the items such as stickers, key holders and books, among others.

Adeboye condemned the act while speaking at the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress 2018 at Mowe in Ogun, Adeboye, as he believed displaying his pictures on items, was against God.

He said he did not approve anyone to use his picture on key holders, stickers and other items.

“I am human, I am not God, and I am not ready to take the Glory of God”, NAN quoted him as saying.

“What these people are doing can lead to trouble for me, for God will not share his glory with anyone. If someone shares Glory with God, the person is as good as dead.

“If you see anyone selling any item with my picture or my wife’s picture on it, report them to the police,” Adeboye said.

2019: Catholic knight cautions parties to be non-partisan politics

AKnight of Saint John, Sir Moses Ugwu, has urged Catholic priests to steer clear of partisan politics by resisting the temptation to endorse candidates ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Ugwu made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday, saying that some clerics were getting it wrong by endorsing candidates or political parties. He said the responsibility of a priest is to guide his followers and win more souls for God.The knight said political leaders needed the prayers of priests, especially when they are not doing well, adding that clerics should avoid heating up the polity.

Ugwu said priests and pastors were not in any way suppose to appear partisan both in body language, preaching or activities or as fathers to all.“The whole congregation and entire people are looking up to them, taking side by endorsing candidates will be counterproductive and will promote disunity in the country,” he said.
Contributing, Mrs Angela Agbo, the President of St. Jude’s Catholic Parish, Abakpa Nike Enugu, urged the priests to be clear, straight forward and spiritual in their utterances in public. She said it is wrong for clerics to indulge in predictions of the outcome of general elections because it could go either way at the end.

Agbo said it would be embarrassing for a priest or a pastor when the result of an election turned out to be negative adding that it was not advisable for a priest to endorse a candidate, support a political party or predict the outcome of an election. She emphasised the need for catholic priests to stick to their callings which, she said, was essentially the winning of souls for God.

She reminded priests dabbling into politics of the day they would account for their actions before God who is watching their actions and utterancaes.

MURIC TO CAN: You can’t monitor 2019 elections

The Muslim Rights Concern has reacted to moves by the Christian Association of Nigeria to deploy 300 observers during the 2019 elections as well as what it termed certain subterranean manoeuvres in the political arena.
According to the Islamic human rights organization in a statement signed by its Director and Founder, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, on Monday, CAN is over-reaching itself.
The statement said: “CAN is overreaching itself. The monitoring of elections in this country has never been based on religious affiliation. The last time we checked, no country in the whole wide world has been doing that. The avalanche of non-govermental organizations (NGOs) are more than enough as neutral observers. We advise CAN to give unto Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar (Mathew 22:21).
“Come to think of it, how does CAN expect to guarantee its neutrality as an observer? Who doesn’t know what the reports of CAN’s observers will contain? It is very simple given the anti-Muslim threats and post-Christian comments of pastors in the past two years. Christian clergies have openly exhorted their followers not to vote for Muslims. So what they will be reporting as observers is very easy to guess. CAN has shown beyond any reasonable doubt that it has vested interest. We therefore advise the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) to ignore CAN’s request on the issue of observers.”
MURIC also accused CAN of seeking to impose Christian governors in all South Western states.
It said: “Our neighbours do not believe in sharing with others. They must take everything. To them the method does not matter. Fair or foul means mean the same to them.   Otherwise how does one explain CAN’s demand that INEC should declare Ademola Adeleke as the winner of Osun gubernatorial election when CAN is not unaware that Adeleke scored F9 parallel in WAEC and the police has a case of examination malpractice waiting for him?
“What kind of governor will Adeleke be? What example can he give the youths of the State of Osun? Will he have the moral right to condemn students who engage in examination malpractice or cultism? Adeleke will certainly desecrate the revered office of the governor. Or does CAN think dancing alone is enough as qualification for the post of governor? CAN wants to sacrifice excellence on the altar of mediocrity. Just because of religion? How does a governor with such a low level of education appreciate the value of education in the state? How will he relate with professors and doctorate degree holders in his executive when no hospital has the cure for inferiority complex?
“We like to place it on record that CAN is the one that often forces MURIC to engage it in polemics.
We cannot keep quiet when CAN adopts an aggressive political agenda which is detrimental to the interest of Muslims. MURIC has a moral obligation to defend the interest of Muslims. The atmosphere will be cleaner and safer if CAN will not seek to arrogate all political offices to Christians or make ridiculous demands like seeking to enthrone the least qualified citizen in a state as governor.
“Can CAN deny that its leaders met the Oyo State governor about three weeks ago to demand that the next governor of the state must be a Christian? Was that also not CAN’s battle cry for the heart of Lagos in 2015? Today, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti are ruled by Christian governors while Ogun, Osun and Oyo have Muslims as governors. That means Christians have three governors while Muslims also have three. But CAN is not satisfied. Its own idea of neighbourliness is to seize the whole South West. Our people say that the eagle that perches on a tree top does not know that those on the ground are watching it.
