Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State governor, yesterday in Port Harcourt, addressed all stakeholders in the state on the current wrangling in the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has told Nigerians he is a unifier but he cannot unify the party. He said,
You are promising Nigerians that you can unify this country, but this one that I saw, you cannot do it. Is it when will come the complicated one? That is just what we are talking about. It has nothing to do with whether you like my face or not. Give them this so that they will have a sense of belonging. You have taken a presidential candidate, you have taken the chairman.”
Speaking further, he vowed that he would not leave the party irrespective of the in-fighting in the state, adding that running away from the battle field is a sign of weakness.
He finally told the gathering that they had never seen defeat and would never see it, boasting that those who were saying something against the state would eventually run back to it in the near future.
