The President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria,Muhammad Buhari, has warned the security agents of Nigeria not to engage in human rights abuse.
He said this in his address to the citizens of Nigeria at around 8pm on Monday, 27th of April, 2020.
He assures Nigerians of their safety especially during this unusual situation.
He further asserts that the security agents of the country will continue to rise to the challenges posed by the Pandemic, Coronavirus.
In his address, he said “our Security Agencies continue to rise to the challenge posed by this unusual situation. While we feel deeply concerned about isolated security incidents involving hoodlums and miscreants, I want to assure all Nigerians that your safety and security remains our primary concern especially in these exceedingly difficult and uncertain times. As we focus on protecting lives and properties, we will not tolerate any human rights abuses by our security agencies.”
He further expresses his concern and regret over the reported cases of Human abuse by the country security agents. He assured that the perpetrators of such abuses will be brought to Justice.
“The few reported incidences are regrettable, and I want to assure you that the culprits will be brought to justice…” he assured.
He further enjoins the citizens of Nigeria to cooperate with the security agents and be understanding when they encounter security agents.
“I urge all Nigerians to continue to cooperate and show understanding whenever they encounter security agents” he said.
