Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency,Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi disclosed this in Abuja,Tuesday during the commemoration of world privacy Day
Abdullahi said,the 27 data protection companies had together generated two billion Naira worth industry and created over one thousand jobs in the last six months
The NITDA DG also said data protection companies would work together to stern the tide of cyber crimes in the country
In his remarks,the Minister of communication and Digital Economy Dr Isa Pantami said,it was necessary for the Government to assure citizens that,their data is protected so that they can embrace the digital economy
He also said,any data under the control of Government or private individuals in Nigeria will not be abused adding that,Digital economy relies on data as data protection is key to driving a digital economy for a digital Nigeria
Also speaking,the chairman of consultant support 2 ,Ajijola Akeem said,Digital Economy must convert the challenges facing the country into opportunities through digital policy and legislation.
