In a bid to address the over reliance on international community for arm production, the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology have lunch its home made armour vehicles and other equipments
Speaking at the 2019 army day celebration and exhibition in Abuja,The Chief of Army staff Lt General Tukur Buratai saids the production of the weapons will further foster growth in the Nigerian economy and also address logistic challenges in fight against insurgents.
Buratai who commended the director and command engineering department saids the equipments were made in Nigerian without foreign aids.
The chief of staff however assured support to continue sponsoring automobile and software engineering to achieve much needed technological breakthrough.
Also at the occasion the Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonaya Onu
Noted that the invention has given a great hope to Nigerians to address security challenges, promised necessary support to advance the research.
Onu restated President Muhammad Buhari commitment to enhance self reliance in weapon production to boost army capacity and also to improve Gross Domestic Products GDPs.
