The Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantamoi, has given Nigerian Communication Commission 9 days ultimatum to ensure that unregistered Subscriber Identity Module, (SIM Cards) are no longer used in the country.
The Minister announced this while receiving the Management Team of the Commission in his office in Abuja, however, commended the NCC for its ability to reduce the number of improperly registered SIM cards from 9.2 million to 2.42 million within one week.
He also charged the team led by its Chairman Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye that it had become necessary to ensure that not a single SIM card is being used in the country without proper registration considering the security implications and the challenges facing the country that before now, over 9 million sim cards were not properly registered.
He further Laud board members who took their oath of office not do anything that would jeopardize the confidence and trust repose on them by the President who appointed them.
The Minister further said the security challenges facing the country has a lot to do with unregistered or improperly registered SIM cards, assuring that the present administration would leave no stone unturned to improve on the welfare of the people especially in the areas of security.
